WLAN based cooperative system for increased road safety
Magna Steyr is developing a cooperative system for car2infrastructure communication. Data from vehicles is collected, calculated and condensed into key figures and sent to the infrastructure via WLAN. The infrastructure has additional data about road and weather conditions and answers with an individual speed recommendation for the vehicle. To evaluate the system, MSF is running a test track on the highway near Graz with WLAN data transfer, weather measurement and as the scientific reference of the traffic a video monitoring system.
